Hi all, only just found this forum and have found it helpful so far. Iv recently weeded n fed my lawn, raked out lots of dead moss and Daisy's ect, aerated with a fork and then over seeded the lawn. The seed has taken very well and has started to take already. How long shall I leave it before I mow over the whole lawn?

    Welcome to Gardeners Corner :sign0016:

I've given new grass a light cut at about 4 inches, only when its dry though :)

      Welcome to GC Dan.

Just to add to what Zigs has said, use a higher cut for the first couple of mowings so that it doesn't scalp or pull out the new grass. :)

Ok thanks for the replies. Bit worried as iv just read that I shouldn't of re seeded so close to the weed n feed. It seems to be growing fine in places but then the dark(pre scorched) places it's not.

The chemicals can persist a bit ... but you may well be fine. "Its got two chances" as they say :)

Scorched, are you talking about the black areas Dan? If you have put down a moss killer then it will turn black when dead and needs to be scarified.

Well I did take out the moss but it seems to have blackened the grass as well. Guess I overlapped some areas.

I wouldn't worry to much, it should grow and mow out eventually. :)
