Hi - I have a Wisteria on the outside of my house, which is approximately 20 ft tall by 30 ft wide. It's a lovely mature plant with a nive thick trunk.

I need to paint the outside of my house and need to trim the Wisteria right back, so I can get to the brisk work behind it.

Any thoughts on how hard I can cut it back to the main trunk and at what time of year. Could I get away with doing it now?

    Thanks, Nick

If you're going to cut it right back, I'd suggest taking some cuttings, just in case.

    Thanks, I will do that.

What is the best way to cut is right back? Should I leave as much foliage as possible ?

Hi nickp - There was a thread over the weekend about pruning Wisteria. So if you go into search and type in Wisteria you will get some useful tips. Good luck!
