My beloved indoor cyclamen has done another leaf drop on me. It's currently down to three - all be them huge and healthy looking from what I can gather - leaves.

I've had this fellow for years and this isn't the first time this has happened; but as I am learning as I spend more time on gardening forums, this doesn't necessarily mean it's meant to happen, or that I haven't caused it in some way...!

    Any tips, or advice? :o:)

I expect you know that over-watering kills more indoor plants than anything else.

Have you change its position recently which might affect light, heat, draughts or humidity. Have you put the heat up (because of the weather) and its above a radiator.

I've been known to overwater  It's probably that, to be fair, bah I feel bad now!

It's been where it is since I moved in here in Sept. It's on a windowsill which is, yes, above a rad.

Lift the pot and if it feels slightly heavy or heavy, stop watering. water again when the pot feels light. Thats about the extent of my experience.

My 1980 edition of the Indoor Gardening Expert says that it likes cool conditions and to be out of direct sunlight. Maybe its getting too warm.

    Good tips, thank you!

Hmm, if that is true, then where it is now is not doing it any favours at all :( Will try to re-locate.

Could be it's just going into the dormant stage mind .

Yes, I mean this plant is years old now (well, about four or so I think?) so I know I must be doing something right, because it hasn't given up completely yet. I did wonder if it might just be going dormant.

That said, I probably overwater as well, so am keeping an eye on any potential bad habits...

It is now May, so I don't know if anyone will check this, but I have read in a gardening book that indoor Cyclamen should be left to rest on their side over Spring and Summer ( and no watering). That's what I'm doing with mine, don't know if it will flower in the autumn, but I hope so!

Yep, that is true, not sure many people bother these days though, as the plants are so cheap to buy now.
