Hello everyone, I'm very new to this gardening lark and so I find myself asking a lot of questions about plants etc. I/we planted a lot of daffodil and crocus bulbs in our front and rear lawns last year and have enjoyed a brilliant display from them both. What do we do now? Some say leave them in the lawn and mow around them, some say dig them up!! and yet others say cut the leaves/stems off when they have turned yellow but NOT to dig them up. I'm very confused as to what to do for the best, can anyone help please?. (And I thought Repairing PC's and writing software was complicated!)

I would be inclined to mow round them if the leaves of the daffs and crocus are still green, but once they have turned yellow/brown and wilted if they haven't already then you can mow them off with the rest of the grass. No need to dig them up.....

If you have still got dead flowers on the daffs I would pick them off with your finger and thumb then the plant can put its energy it producing a good bulb for next year rather than producing seed...

With daffs you should leave them for 7 weeks after flowering, ( around the end of May ), then you can mow them. Don`t worry about the crocus, they can be mown now.:dbgrtmb:
