I was brought up in Nantwich Cheshire but have lived in the Midlands for a while and now in Bolton. I only ever remember seeing damsons in Nantwich (growing in hedgerows) and surrounding areas near there. They used to make fabulous jam! Where else in the country do they grow in the wild?

Bit further East than Nantwich but we got them all over here too in North East Midlands.

We have them in the boundary hedge at the back of the garden, which is the remnants of the original hedge from when the area was farmland.

Cheers chaps. Suppose I'd best look a bit harder. Mind you, I suppose I'm a bit closer to the pennine border now so that might hve something to do with it.
