Dancing Ladies

    Can you help the common name of this perennial is dancing ladies does anyone know the botanical name they should becoming into flower this year and I would like to look them up in one of my books.thanks.

    Hi Poppydigger. Send us a photo if you can, then we can be more certain. I've never heard of "dancing ladies". There is one called "naked ladies" though.

    I have seen the expression used to describe Dicentra Spectabilis - more usually known as Bleeding Heart. Though that should be in flower now.

    Think the plant you're after is Fuchsia magellanica. My mum calls them dancing ladies (after she's had a couple) and there's a reference to it in Flora Brittanica.
