How would you prep this years container for garlic Vince ? Was a tad dissapointed with my "fun-size" garlic I harvested after 9 months !

Harry, it was a bad year for garlic, the "cold" snap came too late methinks?

Container growing? OK, mix some "Dirt" as my other half calls it (spent compost) with some well rotted manure and top soil, ratio about 10 - 5 - 10 and leave for 2 months to break down even further, mix well, firm down and plant your garlic bulbs!

Sow Onion seed on 26th December, NOT Kelsaes. Long Red Florence or Bedfordshire Champion (cos I'm growing them AND I don't want to be up-staged?)

plant out onion seedlings late feb early march under cloches

Would garlic grow in one of these?

I take it that my local garden centre would provide the relevant bulbs?

No reason why not FC, given the right environment they'll grow

A point to note, you do get "hardneck" and "softneck" varieties, choose accordingly to suit your requirements?

Google to explore the difference and base your choice accordingly

Champion! Is the manure that you get in the likes of homebase etc OK, or is it farmyard stuff only?

Homebase manure is great but pricey, I prefer to get "free" stuff straight from the stable and give it a few months to rot down.
