unusual sight of a carrot, this is a variety from Middle east, with a very intense smell and it is not woody on the inside as one could imagine.

pic and description is 1/4 of the way down the page of the link .... I grew some in south africa .... never ate many as the taste was too strong ... there are also smaller round black radishes .... these are known as Russian radishes

 

I didn't like the Black Spanish Radish, but the seed pods were good in Stir fries.
