Sometime ago I downloaded a spreadsheet with flowering data for perennials from a lady on a US forum. I have only just looked closer at it.

Her longest flowering perennials were three Daylilies "barbara mitchell", "ed murray" and "pandoras box" all at 244 days (that 34 weeks!). That is an extra-ordinarily long time. I do not know where she lived, or her climate, which is obviously key.

Has anyone had a Daylily in this country flower for anything approaching that.

Thanks Hans - that looks really nice. I was so gobsmacked at the idea of a Daylily flowering for 34 weeks that I never got round to trying to find out about the named varieties.

I suspect the long flowering is a function of this lady's climate and local conditions. I doubt that it could happen in this country - but I would love someone to tell me I am wrong.

I'm sure you're right, Peter - there's no way in this country, out of doors, that any day lilily is going to start early enough to be able to flower continouously for 34 weeks ! That's just phenomenal! The besty I've seen is right throught he summer period in Hemel Hempstead - from June through to September.
