I have 2 apple trees (over 60 years old ). This year one is going to produce a good crop while the other is completeley dead (no green on it ) the trees are close together and last year the dead one produced some fruit although less than previous years what causes this ? Disease or age?

Hi @Johnnie well 60yrs is a good age but past its prime.. The reason it has not come back could be because of Phytophthora Root Rot and also maybe because it hasn't been pruned for a long time could have added to it.. Have a read here

If you decide to replace it don’t re-plant in the same area either choose a new site for it..
