I was at a clients house yesterday to cut the grass, and it seems to have rained large dead frogs there must of been about fifty all scattered over the garden, there is a small pond which is filled with spawn, but didn't actually see any evidence of any live frogs,is this a natural thing or should I look into this further, client not particulary bothered frogs or no frogs!

will be back at the same house next week, will see if there are any more, the frogs were whole not damaged in any way by beasts like cats or fox's most of them were upside down though looked like they had been there maybe a week or so didnt notice anything unusual apart from the fact they were all over the garden.

Might be worth checking to see if your client or their neighbours have been slug pelleting. I came across a similar problem in march 2003, it was a very dry hot spring and one of my custs decided to beat the slugs with pellets. When i weeded round i found loads of dead or dying thrushes.

I could belive one or two dead frogs from old age, drowning during amplexus or just exhustion but for so many frogs to die in a small area sounds like chemical poisoning of some sort. Anyone been spraying locally or chucking down loads of slug pellets?
