Hi all, so my garden appears to be a bit confused...... Everything has died over winter but seems to be budding already with the warm spell and rain! So my normal beginner garden thinking is to cut all the dead stalks down to the ground around beginning of May so frosts have less chance of harming the plants, is this right?? Or as the plants are reshooting already get rid of them now? Any advice would be invaluable ta!

Personally, I'd leave them a bit longer. Beneficial insects often hide inside dead stalks over winter to keep warm. When you do cut them off, I'd put them somewhere in a little pile in the corner somewhere out of your way, so that if anything is hibernating in there, they'll have a chance to wake up and get out once the year gets going.
