I’m wondering how long it takes from once I Deadhead a rose , to a flower on that stem ? My son getting married end of September and I’m hoping to donate flowers from my garden for the ceremony? Advice appreciated.

Hi @Christmasdiane I think it really depends on rain... I picked a few roses in June and there is no sign of any replacements on those bushes at present. If you see buds currently and you're willing (and allowed) to water the plants, then you might be able to ensure their arrival. However people like @wiseowl are much more rose savvy than me and may say different!

What kind of roses are they @Christmasdiane? Because I'd say it also depends on the rose variety: some kinds only want to flower once in a season (e.g. old-fashioned ramblers); some to have a big flush in May/June and then a smaller one later on; others are troupers which start early and just want to keep going! Ones I've had/ seen which fall into the last category are Mermaid, Bengal Crimson, Pink Perpetue and Flower Carpet (White).

PS lovely idea to use them at your son's wedding by the way - fingers crossed for making that work!

G00d morning @Christmasdiane well it all depends on what Rose we are talking about and the most important point is how many petals does your Rose have ,the more petals it has the longer it will take ,it can take anywhere from 30-40 days or more for a deadheaded rose to put out blooms again. in a month or 6 weeks after deadheading, you can enjoy new blooms on your roses if you give me the name of the Rose I can see how many petals it has:smile:

I have about 12 David Austen roses, and a wide variety of others, including rhapsody in blue, newsflash, super trouper,
Heartbeat and others I’ve forgotten the names of, mostly floribunda.

            Good afternoon @Christmasdiane Rhapsody in blue,has 16/24 petals/Newsflash 26/40 petals
Souper Trouper 17/25 petals Heartbeat yes there are 6 roses named Heartbeat but only one is a Floribunda so as all the others are floribunda's we shall go for that one it has 17/25 petals it might be a bit hit and miss so I respectfully suggest that you have a backup plan (Belt and Braces) it could be 5/7 weeks as there are so many varibles
