Just a quick question - should I deadhead tulips and aquilegia, or doesn't it matter? I've only got a few of each so it wouldn't take a second, but I'm not sure whether to do it or not. Many thanks.

Most tulips are finishing now so yes I'd deadhead, but as for the aquilegia they should just be starting to flower not finishing, I usually leave the aquilegia cos there usually toooooo many flowers to deadhead! [IMG]

I deadhead my tulips - so the plant puts it's energies back into the bulb - rather than into producing seed. I leave my aqualeiga to seed itself - as I love surprises!

Yes, I agree with JarBax, leave the Aquelegia. They are most promiscuous, and if you have different types they will all interbreed - so nothing will come true from the seed.

I'm with Jarbox - you can get some lovely surprises from aquilegia - so let them seed. Tulips nip the head off, and leave til they die back before cutting back - so that the leaves feed the bulb for next year..
