Finally, f.i.n.a.l.l.y (!) got the tree/s and decorations up today "yorkie" (traditionally, should have been last Thursday, for the tree and next Saturday for the decs but, killing two birds with one stone today ;) ) and now, the festive season can officially begin! "xmasdance"

Banner job this year: rediscovered some cherish ornaments that have escaped the annual outing for a good few years past "santa clap" (Note to self: must pack them away and label them with more care!)

Youngest son is coming home next weekend ( :dancy: ) and is delighted all the decorations will be done. Haven't discussed it with his siblings though :heehee:

From here on in, it's the bake-a-thon ... for home and gifts.

Are you all decorated out yet?
    If not, why not?
If not, when is your "tradition" for decorating the home (if at all) for this Season?

Goodness sake M .. you of ALL people should know it is 'boughs of holly' ... :ouch1: ... or perhaps you 'bought' yours ... ?

We always decorate on 6 December, St Nicholas Day, and then take everything down on the Twelfth Day, 6 January ... so we did OUR THING and are 'glowing' in the countryside as t'other half loves his lights ...

Here in Portugal 'decoration day' is 1st December and removed on 6 January ... and they 'hang' Santa Claus from balconies rather than chimneys which is bizarre as there are so many chimneys here ... :rolleyespink:

I love humbugs too Pete ... liquorice and mint, yum ... xx

I've got to cut down a large holly branch which I probably will use for my tree. I will not be buying one, that's for sure. It has to be a real evergreen thing or the magic won't work. Then I'll have to drag it, resisting forcefully, into the house. After that I'll have to find a suitable tub, sand, stones etc to wedge it upright (I've regretted ignoring this step in the past.) Next, I'll get down several massive boxes of sundry decorations from the high cupboard, which I have collected year on year, and remind myself of all my little treasures This will include about 300 fairy lights which is totally over the top on a 5' tree, and a set of glitter balls, the largest being nearly a foot across. Having rearranged the furniture to accommodate it the tree, hoovered up all the mess I made putting it up, I will collapse on the sofa with a large mug of tea and contemplate doing it all in reverse in 3 weeks time.

A very big bunch of curly willow twigs makes a great tree. After it's got 300 fairy lights on no-one knows what's under there anyway.
