    Hey,

I have recently had some elevated decking installed. It was last winter actually. I am attaching an image so you can see what im talking about. I plan on painting the decking and steps a kind of grey colour and also going to get some rattan seating may be a table? What i wanted to ask is - it all looks a bit plain - how can I improve the area? Making it more colourful and playful?

Many thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Very nice. Perhaps a railing with climber and some colourful pots with shrubs.

Just an observation, but it all seems a bit elevated for some reason.
I assume we are looking from the house in the picture?

Some balustrading and handrails would make it safer and create more interest and with some climbing plants as @Victoria says

      That's very nice indeed!

Some planters with trellis would allow you to grow something colourful and fun, perhaps a mix of summer bedding plants and for example strawberries and a tuft of Chives or a supermarket Mint for your drinks? The climbers could be fully decorative but Beans also look good and produce crops.

If you go for summer delights only, you can then pull them out in autumn and replace with seasonal winter bedding and fairy lights.

On that note, solar powered lights will definitely add to the atmosphere and are maintenance free.

Planters like this are relatively cheap and as they are narrow, don't take too much away from the floor space.
