In 18 years visiting here / living here, we've never seen deer ... and here was a herd just standing there looking at us! [IMG]

    Hi LoL

They've certainly got some horns on them. We occasionally get a deer wandering into our garden. They don't seem to nibble too much but it is a pain clearing up their pooh.

Here is a, hazy, picture I took of them. They were in the field across the road. They look very majestic and elegant and I would love them to stay there as long as they don't come into the garden.

    Hi LoL

My picture was lovely and green because it was taken before the drought. They were in the woods alongside the field of rape.

Hi, shiney! Have you seen muntjaks in your area? I had an accident on the M10 because of one last year, when I lived down there. Didn't do my back any good at all!

Up here, where I now live, we get roe deer erupting out of the woods chased by my dog when she's out having a nice walk. Strangely enough, I've never had a good chance to get a photo - funny that!

Hi dendy, yes we get lots of muntjaks and people who see them only briefly think they are big dogs. Mrs shiney had a run in with a deer earlier this year. She saw it standing in the road so slowed down. It then walked off the road into the woods and, as she was driving past, it came running out of the woods straight into the car.

It hit her front wing and dented it, smashed the wing mirror, dented the driver's door, dented the rear door and the rear wing. Then ran back into the woods. Mrs shiney was really shaken by it.

Now she is just annoyed as it cost a lot of money to repair.

Don't mention rape to me Shiney ... I'm horribly allergic to it! Bet that got everyone's attention! It was all around us in Bucks and I developed Hay Fever in my late 40s because of it ... aaggghh ... I can almost smell it from here!

Oilseed rape, a member of the mustard family, almost flourescent lemon yellow flowers, grown for cattle feed and cooking oil. It has apeculiar cloying smell which gives many people headaches, incuding me and I am very unallergic to plants! Bees like it and you can taste it in honey made anywhere near it.
Fields of rape look beautiful in small quantities! [IMG]

I am allergic to some plants, when i come in from the balcony my hands get itchy and agitated but cannot identify which one it is that gives me a rash
