Question - on IE6 - I could delete all cookies and temperory files. I now have IE7 and can't find it in the menu - anyone able to tell me where it is now.

:D Nice to see you Beefy, still love your avatar, know its you before I even read the name :D IE7 is really good but take you time to feel around it. The multiple tabs in one window is great.

Second that - and everything's there, just tidied into one icon. I really love it! Though I have found that if I try to have more than one smiley website opened at a time, everything lights up like a fairground, all flickering and having a major meltdown! (That includes my smiley album on PB!)

So I have a second window with all my smiley stuff on and keep the first for all my forums. That way I can toggled between GC, Buddy Holly, Christian Forums (which might be two or three windows!) and a Google page. Neat, very neat!

Thanks all of you - have removed my temp files etc - but retained cookies, and passwords for now. But at least I now know where it is.

I too like the multiple windows in tabs - so much easier to work between pages.

Why retain cookies? They often take up more space than the TIFs!

Some people leave cookies for auto complete passwords etc. I always delete everything, if someone steals your PC you have left yourself very vulnerable. Also cookies track your movements online and send usage data to marketing monitors. Also if you return to a website they know who you are ! :D [IMG] :D

Under IE Tools > Internet Options > Privacy > Advanced you can opt to 'Overide automatic cookie handling'. I have mine set to 'Promt' for 1st-party cookies and 'Block' for 3rd-party cookies and there is also a Popup blocking option which I have checked.

I only allow those sites that I want to load cookies, all others I refuse. It is amazing how may innocent looking sites try to drop multiple cookies!

If you change you mind about a particular site (perhaps you want to order something online) then you can go to Tools > Internet Options > Pivacy > Sites and you get a list of 'Managed Websites'. Just highlight the site you want and reset it to 'Always allow' (you can block it again after you've done if you want).

Done and thanks - existing cookies deleted too, so lets see if I can keep it tidy. I don't need to worry about space, I just don't like web pages causing clutter, unless required by me - and I certainly would not like to be used for marketing.

ps down side, doing that bounced me out of GC and as I never log out, had to dig out the paperwork. But it is prompting me about cookies, so thats working :D

"doing that bounced me out of GC"

Yes, that's the trouble, either you accept cookies or you can't stay logged in. I always had to log in each time I visited, now I have changed to GNU/Linux I don't need to reject cookies as most of the bad stuff is written to run on Windows so fails to run on GNU/Linux.

We find this program very useful. At the end of a session you can delete all cookies which have appeared and leave the ones you want on. It saves having to be disturbed by Cookie rquests all the time.

It does a lot of other things too and it is free.
