Ok I'm guessing that is a no :).
I have made it this morning, (using half the quantity), just waiting for it to cool a bit now and put into jars. I'll get some photos and report back later on the taste etc.

I had to use ready made french mustard but used less vinegar to compensate but the mixture was still a little too runny even when it had cooled a little, so I added quite a bit more cornflour. It is darker than in the book, probably due to the type of mustard used. It says to keep for a month before using but it tastes really nice now. I made 3 jars using half the quantities, which is enough for me.

This looks yummy. I guess it'd give a similar result with french beans?

I suppose it would. I chopped the sliced beans into pieces about 3/4 inch long.

I think I might reduce the sugar quantity next time as it was quite sweet, but I tried a spoonful this morning and I think it may sort itself out after the month as it tasted slightly less sugary today.
