I grew delphiums from seed last year for the first time - very pleased with them . This year I noticed that some are showing- I put the slug pellets down . On examination yesterday the slugs had got two of them ! I cut them off neatly with my snips , now will these regrow now

    TIA

PS : They are now surrounded by pellets and beer traps !

I planted a load of delphiniums last year, and they all snuffed it - no idea what happened to them, but I doubt it was slugs as I had loads of pellets down and my lupins were untouched in the same border.

could it have been caterpillars do you think? i've no experience of delphiniums but the other day i noticed "something" has been eating all the growing tips on my lovely little Red Robin bush, i assumed it was slugs but after creeping out after dark with torch in hand i was surprised to find a couple of large green caterpillars munching away happily, they must be kipping in among the primroses which are directly below the Red Robin & only venturing out once dark when they're safe from birds. hope my poor Red Robin recovers

ps i didn't harm the caterpillars...i just moved them on to pastures new ;)
