Denby Pottery wins approval for garden centre

    Denby Pottery is to build a garden centre at its Derbyshire site. The company submitted the plans to Amber Valley Borough Council in February, which gave its approval this week for an 80-bed hotel along with a restaurant, garden centre and a new warehouse. The firm which is based in the town of Denb, says it will create 600 jobs. Plans will now go to the secretary of state for signing off. Denby's visitor centre attracts about 200,000 people a year. The company, which was founded in 1809, was the subject of a 30m management buyout in 2009.
