Descriptive ID

Sorry I don't have a photo but I have a description of the plant..

It was covered in masses of yellow Cytisus type flowers, and looked like a broom, but while Cytisus leaves are \|/ shaped, these one were just singular uniform smallish leaves down green stems (leaves covered the stems though). It was a bush form, about 2 feet high by 5 feet wide.

Nope none of them.. search birdsfoot trefoil.. thats the shape of the flowers.. It cant be Cytisus though as it's out of season I would have thought!

Nope, I think this ones got everyone stumped.. I couldnt get a photo of it, but wish I had.. It stood out as being fairly unusual.

 

Just a suggestion...Coronilla valentina subsp. glauca 'Citrina'????

Where was it growing? Was it cultivated or wild?

Cytisus x praecox can be a large shrub.

My Med book has many such plants that could fit your description but don't know if they would grow there.

Another question: Is it scented?

 

I never really wanted to smell it, I was surrounded by chavs, and wanted to spare myself the thuggery. The thing is Cytisus and Genista leave are shaped like below.

(The leaf I saw was not shaped like that of below)



These were singular leaves (rather than the compound leaves of Cytisus/Genista), from what I could see, it would be evergreen. The flowers were a very bright yellow.

 

Genista tinctoria does not have trifoliate leaves.

looks more like it SS yes, perhaps! It was flowering in late July when other Genistas have gone over.. not sure if thats a normal trait.
