I'm absolutely hacked off. This is my first year gardening and I've spent many, many hours getting my little plot looking good. 2 days of rain and high winds have flattened it. Argh

      Nightmare MrTibbs :ouch1:

Might help to get some of that slotted windbreak fence like they use round plant nurseries.

The number of times I've 'had enough'.

Sorry to hear what's happened Mr Tibbs. We do have disasters along the way, but the important thing is to learn from them where you can. We can't do much about unprecedented rainfall, but the trick (I think, I'm still learning myself) is to keep adapting the garden as we learn what works and what doesn't in our own little bit. Maybe change the layout, add wind breaks as Zigs said, maybe a few raised beds, maybe if one type of plant falls on its behind, replace it with something different.

We all have our disasters. Lost 2 planters today full of cosmos and dahlias due to the wind and just gone out to let the dog out and the neighbours fence panel has blown ( again!!). he won't replace it as he keeps bodging it so it lasts that little bit longer. It's knackered and tomorrow I shall be having a word or 10. I got a bit wee we'd off, i picked it up and thrown it on his lawn. He has just got lawn in his so the dog can go the bog so isn't a gardener at all. It fell in again my side and flattened my musa, cactus dahlia, canna, echinacea, Washingtonia and fatsia. Not happy at all now.

Yep one of my troughs went for a burton which still has flowering snaps in it. I managed to drag it closer to the fence then noticed that some pots of lavatera had blow over....a complete mess. Can't wait to see what the garden looks like tomorrow!!

Thanks Jenny. Mother Nature we go long with yea, but as you say, damage due to some div not wanting to spend a few quid to keep his fences in good nick is not acceptable.

After 10 weeks of drought the recent heavy rains have caused nearly every single damson on my trees to split ruining the entire crop. 'Luckily' I only had about 36 damsons on half a dozen trees this year, so I'm not nearly as hacked off as I was a couple of week ago.

Just got in from work and had a shuftie of the garden. The 2 large cactus dahlias ( around 5 ft) are no more, the wind has wiped them out :-(

Also, lots of snapped stems, the dahlias in the pots are ragged too.
the little uns cucumber plants are a shredded too :-(

Had a word with the neighbour first thing and he was going to put the panel back in! It's beyond knackered and asked him to replace as 3 blow outs previously it was knackered. The wind is howling through the gap where the panel used to be and at the moment it's still languishing on his grass keeping it warm.
2 days ago the garden was looking superb. Now it's more than a little rough. A lot of tidying to do methinks when the wind dies down.
