They were doing brilliantly until yesterday!
Also, my begonias have been turned upside down and dug out

I hate to say it but the birds are very good at digging in seed trays this weather for any insects... I love birds but sometimes they overstep the mark even for me....mOh dear NG what were your seedlings anyway.? Not sure about the first pic...

I was watching the Gardens at G.W.l last night and I reckon the one with the Semps in the drain pipes has never gardened where there are blackbirds. They totally destroy any Semps planted here.
Something also has dug out almost every newly potted up Saxifrage cuttings. £60 if sold at my normal price. (Money goes to the Air Ambulance).
I like birds, but sometimes.......................Sorry NG. Happens to the best of us.

They do it on purpose you know: oh yes! They do it to teach us a lesson we won't ever forget. And now, of course, you will remember this.

I do feel for you :grphg:

            Is that bird damage?
First picture looks like weedkiller to me.
Second one, looks like an empty planter.

If, as others are saying the problem is blackbirds, then fill a seed tray with mud and keep it wet, they like that best for their nests.
Also, provide some Whiskers cat food, they love it and it stops them rooting around so much, although, they might still dig out the gutters during wet weather.

I think it was nemophila (spelling?) which was destroyed. I think it's marigolds to the right?? Doing well :)
Here is a clearer picture for Pete :)
4 begonias, 3 spaced evenly, and one experimental one in top left. They were all starting to sprout like the one top left

My lovely rosmarinus officinalis  it has been beautiful for a year now, and doubled in size, although it has never flowered.

I agree with Pete the first pic and the Rosmarinus looks too drastic to just be birds and especially as it's happened so quickly...It's a damn shame..
