Put fleece on my broad beans last night, bought my Coleus's and Oleander indoors.Got up this a.m. and we had not a bit of a chill, we are in a secluded cul-de-sac and seem to get away with quite a few things.:doggiesmz:

Didn't really get too cold here, but it given me a kick up the backside to get my cold frames built.

*sigh* we are just past the middle of September. Seems more like the end of October ! I feel that 2012 has really shortchanged us on good weather :gaah:

Was just thinking the same Harry. Not to many problems here. The hosta leaves are changing now which means that's the start of the cold nights

For some odd reason I don't think this Summer, as bad as it was, was as bad as last year's. Maybe because I don't feel as depressed:heehee:
We didn't get a frost last night here in West Cheshire and the temperature only dropped to 50f. Today the day temperature stayed at 51f all day and is still at that figure now at 7.30pm.:dunno:

I think it went down to 7C here last night, the coldest since the spring.
Tonight feels like it might get a bit lower at the moment.:frown:

Hi liliana and welcome to GC.

Not a show off ... just someone who would like some rain and cooler weather after six months of drought and the driest winter in about 90 years I think ...

... but then again, Britain has had the wettest summer in 100 years so I believe ... can't we share ...

PS Pete, the cottage by the sea is up for long-term again as of 1st October ... €375 a month ...

              Strongy ... brrrrrrrrrrr ....

it only dropped to 10C here, no chance of frost. It has got quite cool in the last few weeks with the temperature dipping to 8.4C at the lowest. It is getting towards Autumn now though and single figure temperatures become more likely. That said there wasn't any single figure temperatures here until October last year. Usually September stays in double figures. I suspect we will see a few early frosts this year (in the UK in general)

I'd understand your cynicism Mowgley, however the British Isles is not representative of the globe, so even if it is cool here, it does not mean the globe as a whole is not warming generally.

Shineyland is still OK but it feels as though autumn may be approaching. Nowhere near a frost yet, runnerbeans and courgettes still producing but slowing down, hostas are flowering for a second time, grass not growing from lack of rain but still has some green. I've got the sprinkler on the garlic as the ground is too hard to dig and I need to lift it.
