hey I've started digging a patch in the garden for some veggies to go in, so far I've removed the grass and the soil it was holding onto. what I'm planning on doing next is digging down roughly a foot deep and removing the soil, and then breaking the bottom up with a fork and with the soil I've removed I was going to sieve through it to remove the stones/roots etc, mix some compost in with it and put it back in the patch. should I be doing anything else or is this ok? any advice would be great thanks :)

Wouldn't worry too much about sieving it, unless you're planning on growing root veg.

Normally with double digging you'd dig the first trench, loosen the soil below, and then bury the weeds before back filling :)

I'm not really sure what I'm gonna grow in it yet but I've sieved it and removed all the stones... I don't plan on doing that again lol I'd say about 1/3 of it was stones/rocks
