    Hi All,

    When is the correct time to plant out my Digitalis plants, which l have grown from seed.?

    How big are they kapper and have they been hardened off?

    Have never grown digitalis but I wouldn't put young plants out yet!!!

    I'd be more worried about slugs than the cold as far as young foxgloves are concerned.

    I wouldn't put them out until they were developed enough to survive some damage from slugs.

    I also wouldn't rush into planting out.
    Give them time to get established. Once you have them flowering they will self seed and you'll have plenty from then on.

    Just to let you know kapper, I have grown them from seed also. The way I do it is not for all to follow but works well for me. I grow them in pots till they are just about to flower and then plant them where they will serve me best.
    I did this under some shrubs and they have been coming back year after year since.
    Cannot have to many of these lovely plants for the bees.

    I once saw a bee go inside one of the flowers just as the flower head fell off with the bee still in it. I don't know if bumblebees can actually panic but the buzz went noticeably louder and much higher pitched, until a very agitate bee got out and buzzed aimlessly but frantically around, before sheepishly flying off hoping that nobody saw it happen. Even now just remembering it cracks me up.:loll:

      ive got pink ones self seeding everywhere,but id bought a packet of 200 seeds white ones and only got 2 plants! that was last yr and i planted them out sept(i think) and im still guarding them,praying il get a white one :dancy: good luck kapper :dbgrtmb: xx
