Probably the kin of the ones that take mine ! Night time thieving slugs and snails..Lay some bait or a beer trap, you'll soon see.
Good luck and welcome to G-Corner [IMG]

I grew my lupins on to quite a size before I planted out this year - anything less than about 9" can disappear almost overnight.

It's turning into a nightmare year for slugs! I've had nematodes, the dilutable killer, the blue granules, torch at night method, beer, nothing seems to be stopping them. Even the 4 toads and 2 frogs haven't made much impression.

Hi grandma10 and a warm welcome from me too.

We used slug pellets when things got too bad. We don't like beer traps as you have to fish the horrid things out next day/throw the whole ghastly mess away. Then too, you get all the neighbours slugs coming over for a free drink too.

I put plastic collars aroud each plant and put vasaline on said collars.
It keeps the blighters off the plant, and the vasaline lasts ages!

I have the same problem with the delphiniums, even when I plant out quite big plants- I haven't tried the plastic collars with vaseline, I'll add that to my list of slug defences! :D
