Right now, I'm closer than I've ever been to just throwing in the towel and leaving the garden alone. Maybe mow the lawn now and then and that's it.

I took some cuttings off one of my blueberry bushes last autumn, and was surprised that they all took. So I nurtured them along, just for the slugs to get them as soon as they came out of hibernation.

Then a few days ago I sowed the beans for the year. Just checked in the greenhouse just now. It was very window the other night. Windy enough it seems to send the full tray flying to the floor, spilling all its contents everywhere. I guess if I can be bothered I can probably sift through the mess and find the beans and re-sow them, but I just looked at the mess, and my initially reaction was <naughty word> it.

Don't give up mate - we all get hit with these setbacks, and all we can do is crack on and try again.

If its any consolation, I strimmed right through the two main stems of my clematis yesterday and have killed it stone dead.

I know how you feel clueless ,what with my blow away blowing away and my calla lilies not growing in fact one is mouldy. It is the 1st time for calla lilies for me and it is only the encouragement from members that stop me throwing them in the bin. I am sure once you have sorted through them you will feel a lot better.Plant a few more up and before you know it the little babies will be coming through ,waiting for the tender care I am sure you will lavish on them.

Know that "I hate gardening" and "must be bonkers doing so much hard work only for outside influences to ruin things" only too well. Maybe have a few days away from the garden and return to the attack when you have had a break from it. I've been giving up on my garden for at least 10 years! but then something I didn't think was alive makes an appearance or something which often gets frosted, hasn't and the enthusiasm comes back. A large glass of something stronger than lemonade often helps too!

Hmmm, you have had some problems with Agnetha and now a setback with your gardening, but really it's only a teeny weeny setback, and after all it's another lesson learned about windy nights!! None of us have it plain sailing all the time, things go wrong, plants get munched, my Heuchera bed has recently become my cats new toilet!!! So Cheer up clue pick up the beans and soldier on like the rest of us!!!:)

Thanks all, and sorry for whining about something so trivial. It occurred to me shortly after I started this thread this I spat my dummy out/took my ball home for the daftest little thing.

My cuttings got munched. There are farmers who still cant use their land for anything useful because its still waterlogged from last year. The wind knocked my beans over. Big deal. Some people lose entire crops.

I'm actually pretty lucky. None of my land has been waterlogged, it doesn't dry out too much, it doesn't flood. I have the occasional trivial mishap. Some people have losses than run into many thousands of pounds.

I've had a word with myself, and I wont be whining about such trivialities again.

We're all entitled to let off steam from time to time - whether the reason seems trivial or not, and if you can't do it here among friends, that would be a sad day in my book. Also, don't forget that many things only become trivial once you have the benefit of hindsight.

I think it's fine to let off steam about anything that makes you sad! I feel your pain, see my recent thread on my sweet peas, I felt much better for sharing. The reason gardening can get us down is because we care about it so much. It won't be long before one of those lovely little garden moments happens again and makes you smile!

I must admit there are times when I get a "downer" in the garden. It usually happens when a favourite or really desirable plant fails to survive the Winter and I'm scouring the borders to see if it has survived, only to recognise eventually that it hasn't.:cry3: Other times it's when you sow some really sought after seeds, see them grow to the first set of leaves only to die off due to watering them wrongly or it getting too warm in the Green House.:gaah: I don't think there's a gardener out there that hasn't suffered losses or some sort of disaster in the garden, but we all take a deep breath and carry on, and eventually the garden brings a smile to our face.:snork:

                        It's OK, clueless,
We're all entitled to have a moan now and then :blue thumb: and we're here to sympathise and help you through it :grphg:

We get some disasters in the garden every year but that's what gardening is about. Take the knocks, say a few choice words and don't let the B*****s get you down! :heehee:

Mother Nature always seems to get over things pretty quickly so we need to take her example. :)
