An apple tree in our garden apparantly that has been here 30 years was chopped down badly last year so the neighbours say as we only moved in months ago. Now that it is sprouting it is obviously diseased. Will it affect the other shrubs and a bay tree next to it, what is the best thing to do as it looks awful which is such a shame as when we viewed the house it was beautiful???

    Hi lb7110

Some wood decaying organisms/diseases can spread from tree to tree by soil, water, wind or insect transport. Whether the other trees are necessaruly susceptible to the infection depends on what the infection is. I'd recommend cutting down the apple tree shoots if you don't require them and concentrate on the plants you want to keep.

would you advise cutting the tree right down as some of the shoots are growing at the bottom aswell??? Such a shame, would it grow back okay again if chopped??

Before you do anything drastic, take some pics so that we can assess he problem.
