dividing bamboo

Morning all,
Just got a Fargesia murielae from a sale at the village hall. It's about 3ft tall and really cramped in a 5" pot. It's eventual home in the garden isn't ready yet so when I pot it into a bigger pot can I divide it as I'd like to keep some of it in a pot on the patio? Can I do this now?

 

Hi Windy, the short answer is division in eary spring or autumn and definitely not when producing culmns. But you have PM. :D
