    Hi All,

I moved into a new build house year before last. We are lucky enough to have a garden circa 200 foot long. The problem I have is its split level and the developer never landscaped the lower half as it has three Oak Trees with TPO orders on them.

I am planning to landscape the lower level this summer. and was wondering if anyone knows of a good source of new Oak railway sleeper type products in the South East of England (Hastings). I am also planing to build a summer house, but would like to construct myself. Do you know of any good self build plans.

    Kind Regards

    Simon

I'm just wondering why you want to build your own. Is it to save money or to create something bespoke and special? Because if you're trying to do it to save money then I personally wouldn't bother, unless you have most of the materials at hand already as you're not really saving much money in the long run.

If you want something bespoke then by all means crack on. My other half (who recently became a member on here) may be along soon to help you out with your joinery needs if so. :)

    Welcome to GC!
I agree with JJ's comments about expense, but it's always satisfying to make your own individual creation, you can customise it to size and position, and even better if you've made it out of a load of bits of junk, IMO!
There's a bloke on GC, I think he might be in Canada, who built his own greenhouse/shed, and gave links to detailed photos and plans. It was lovely. I wonder if they might be of any help? Anyone know which thread it was?

This bloke has some sensible things to say:

Also a few bits and pieces on these.

    Hi Jane,

I would just like to build the structure myself as I also want to have the back divided into a shed with the door to the shed in the side for storing my son's garden toys.
