Just wondered if Blueberry bushes need pruning and if so when is the best time to do it.
Hi, I'd only cut out the dead wood. Sometimes they will take a rest from fruiting. I've got a lot in pots and one last year only had a few, but this year it's covered on flowers.
Like you I only had a few whereas the previous two years I had plenty.I have one in a pot on the patio and all the others (5) on my allotment plot. Both locations have plenty of flowers. Will cut way the dead wood today. Thanks
Hiya Paul . Also cut out weak shoots....they will not produce fruit. I also remove the odd oldest wood to keep plenty of young wood (best fruiting) as possible.....a task I plan on this week. A good time to feed now incidentally
When is the best time to move to bigger pots please?
Late fall through early winter while the plant is in its dormancy period.
Thank you.....too late now then. I'll make a note on calendar to do later in year.
I would wait until fruiting is over....prob August time. Keep well watered but the weather will still be warm and the new root growth made then will help establish the plants for next spring
