    Hi everybody,

I am now in uncharted territory. Have been feeling rather smug about plants that have survived my efforts this year but don't know if theyt should be pruned now or not. Any advice would be greatly appreciated [IMG]

    Wisteria
Climbing Roses (no flowers and looking rather stringy)
Selanium (has kind of taken over)
    Peiris

The climing roses were new in this year, i bought them from Woolworths as they were only 1.99 each and 'guaranteed to grow', they are now about 4ft up wither side of the arch but very stringy.

    Many thanks in advance :D

Hello again, (just when you thought it was safe to go back in the garden,) I think the general advice is you are safe to prune once the plant is dormant and there is no chance of frost.

Don't know about you but we are just literally having our hottest day of the year so nothing is dormant. Wouldn't prune now but daitheplant is the man to ask.

re Wisteria - pruning of old ones that need lots of renovation shouldn't be done until it's very cold, so the sap isn't rising - but now is good for pruning the springy long new bits, tying them in. The RHS advice on them is really helpful

Mr D is my other half - sorry about the confusion - guess it's that signature line......

He's doing a big charity walk for MSF next spring, so the links are there for them as wants to follow it up.

Re the link for wisteria pruning - I find the RHS advice sheets are really clear and easy to follow, and always check with them. ;)

Don't prune your Pieris, it doesn't need it.
