Wonder if others experience jaw dropping moments when gardening. I had 1 this morning. Last season I sort of gave in and put down very heavy gauge teram/membrane plus bark chip on various shrub beds to reduce the amount of weeding.

For ten years I have been battling Spanish Bluebells (Bluebells still winning) and I thought that the heavy gauge membrane would be far too strong for any Bluebells to get through
....WRONG. Along with both my 1000s of Snowdrops and Aconites appearing far earlier than normal, the Bluebells I have failed to dig out are on the move too. Looks like I will have to get The Roundup out!The membrane I used is the type you put down to drive on at a building site for example if the ground is very muddy. It's really strong yet these dratted bulbs have managed to make holes in it and appear:gaah::gaah:

Only way to clear spanish bluebells is weedkiller. Digging always misses some.

As for Victor Meldrew moments, I have them all the time and not just in the garden lol

I wouldn't have thought that would happen silu.

I usually do the same daft things every season, digging up the first of the new spuds invariably I manage to slice through the precious harvest with my spade. Also I always forget where I've planted bulbs and often accidentally dig them up.

Ditto my last year's dahlia tubers left in the ground.
