I'm starting to give names to different parts of my garden to reflect 'their personality' or traits. The first area to be named is ' muddy boots corner' as it's is so wet down there.....anyone else got any names for their areas of the garden?

Definitely. It's the only way of communicating to my OH where in the garden I'm talking about. Currently we have:
      The front.
The main garden. (containing the "Old equipment.")
The new garden. (will have to quickly find a new name for that one  )
      The barn garden.
      The animal area.
      Stone mountain.
      The "bit around the pool".
      The lavoir.
      The sheep field.
      The stream.
      The boggy bit.

I haven't yet named my garden at home, but on my piece of land in the countryside there is (don't get excited, no imaginative names I'm afraid):

          * The top field. So called because it is a field
          * The second field. So called because it is the second field you come to having walked through the top field
          * The triangle of death. So called because it is roughly triangular shaped, and fenced off because it features a very steep (almost vertical) drop of about 10 ft, and a bust field drain in there means it is proper sloppy in the bottom, sloppy enough to get yourself stuck.
          * The sunny bank. Its a bank, and it catches the sun.
          * The woods. Where the trees grow
          * The far side. The bit that's furthest from the gate.

I used to have a 'board of peril' but I removed it. The board of peril was a wooden board that someone had left on the floor, and it went very slippy, and being on a bank side if you stood on it you were guaranteed to fall over.

We do have random names for some parts of the garden and the fields around the property at work.

Right on the outer edge of our land is a narrow piece of fenced off grassland which became the subject of a property dispute, a neighbouring landowner being convinced he owned it (he didn't). The argument rumbled on for some time, involving solicitors letters, title deeds and so on before our boss was finally able to convince him that he was wrong. This is now referred to as the Gaza Strip.

Near the stable block is an uneven grass area which contains a cesspit and sewage digester. This is known as the S**t Pit Bit.

We also have the Sheep Field, which contains no sheep, as well as The Field Across The Road because we can't think what else to call it.

It used to be called 'That Big Field Out The Back' until a few years ago, when the farmer next door had some of his sheep on it for a few months, so we renamed it. Although it hasn't had sheep in it for a long time now, the name stuck. :rolleyespink:

I've got a low lying grass path adjacent several dalek composters which regularly floods and the rotting compost leaches into the long stinking puddle that is known as 'up treetreetree creek'.

Yes, I have many named areas ...
                  • Front of House Patio where there is a lounge chair, two chairs, coffee table and chiminera and various pots ... it is facing ..
                  • The Dance Floor, a sort of circular shaped tiled area half bordered with ballustrades which covers a 20,000 litre underground water deposit completely covered in large pots containing Strelizia nicholai, Cavandish banana, Pink Pepper Tree, Thevetia peruviana and three Hibiscus ... and
                  • The Sand Garden, a triangular shaped area containing Iochroma, Plumbago, Brugmansia, Cestrum, shrub Bougainvillea, Tecomaria, Tecoma stans, a Jacaranda, Viburnum, Myrtus 'Tarantina' with all areas in between covered in sand ... it's a shady area for the cats to laze in.
                  • The Serras, a large rockery north of the Dance Floor containing shrubs such as Melaleuca, Tibouchina, Scented Geraniums, etc. also another Jacaranda, Oleander and Callistemon viminalis.
                  • The Kitchen Patio, where there is a round glass table, four chairs, a granite L-shaped counter and lots of potted specimens including a Bearrs Lime and a Prunus Pissardi.
                  • The Deck, a 30 square meter deck on top of The Baffa with several potted specimens with access from The Kitchen Patio ...
                  • The Baffa, a 20 square meter outdoor living room (originally a chicken run) with windows all around and french doors leading to ...
                  • The Baffio, an enclosed dining area which seats eight bordered by the Baffa to the West, the large brick shed to the East, the Med Border to the North and a meter high wall with Ballustrade on top where the grapevine wanders bordering the orange orchard, containing countless pots of shrubs and plants.
                  • The Med Border containing a Poinsettia pulcherrima, a Brugmansia, two Myoporos, two Yuccas and three Roses.
                  • The Gravel, a space where 3/4 cars can park.
                  • The Lower Border which borders The Gravel containing a Solanum rantonetti, a Bearrs Lime, a Myoporo and Oleander.
                  • The Skwijery, the rockery next to the area where Skwij one of our dearly-departed cats is buried, adjacent to The Gravel and Lower Border, containing various plants plus Cercis siliquastrum and Tecomaria.
The rest of the garden is not named but various borders containing Bougainvilleas and lots of small plants and shrubs such as Bamboos, various climbing plants, all of this is a medium-sized garden which is only on one side of the house! :)

Well, you DID ask ... :heehee:

I've got some names for parts of the garden just because it's easier, alas dull sounding. But there is the Woodland (far less grand than that, but does have the feel in a small way and a mini woodland 'walk'). The Chicken Run, now a large flower border that was once a chicken coop and run (the only bit of the garden with half decent soil) and the Back Corner (aka the Back Passage) which is a deglected area with some large rocks, remains of an old compost pile and goodness knows what else but is thankfully dark and overgrown, as the name implies, needs a good clear out.

One day I'll get it all sorted ... :loll:
