I planted some Marketmore Cucumbers from seed back in March, they started off well but became very slow to grow. I planted them out in the garden room beds in late April when they were about 6 inches tall but they are growing so slowly! They are only about 10 inches tall now and keep dying on me. One day a plant will suddenly wilt beyond saving, the bottom leaves turn yellow and they go brown aroung the edge of some of the other leaves. I pulled up a dead one yesterday to find a white maggott looking lavae about half an inch long in the roots. I pulled another one up today and found that the roots seemed quite small and were a bit slimey??

I have a hanging basket with ethe tumbling tomatoes on my balcony, it grew like mad to start with and is a good size, with lots of flowers and small tom's, however, the bottom leaves have turned yellow and the rest of the leaves just do not look as healthy and dark as they did before. I planted 3 in the basket as advised, butthe basket seems to be all roots now and not so much soil.

My Pepper plants in the garden room are also VERY slow to grow, planted in march they are only 4 inches tall now!!!???

My strawberry plants on the balcony have also taken a turn for the worse, it was producing lovely big fruit up until about a week ago, but now is looking a little sorry for itself and has tiny, misshaped fruit??

It's driving me mad, It is the forst time I have tried to grow fruit & veg and its not going so well :o(

Hi Kitesurf - I know what you mean - my first time too and my tomatoes are dying on me. The only advice I can offer is that it sounds like vine weevil grubs on your cucumbers though I am not sure if it is the right time of year. Are you feeding your tomatoes? They sound a lot healthier than mine anyway lol!

Another cucumber dead this morning, just hanging over the pot, all wilted and had it! Some of my strawberry plants leaves seem to have vanished overnight and the bloody flea beetles seems to have multiplied tenfold! All going well.

Off to the garden room now to see what else has died :o(

Oh, elliegreenweliie (I like that!), I have only just started feedong my tomatoes, the basket variety is doing far better than the others... give it time though! They seem to be slowing down now, and drying out very quickly too. This vegetable lark is a nightmare!
