A lot of mature box hedging in the garden where I work, and am gradually working my way round, clearing out dead grass and dead hedging from 'the middle of the hedge. Would the hedge benefit from any kind of feed, if so, what? Or is hedging strong enough to grow without feeding?? Thanks.

a high phosphate feed, I believe, is what's recommended - but let's see what others say! I've not done it, just read about it!!

i tend to think that hedges do well with some bonemeal plus mulching, or farm yard manure [rotted]

We've one about 15 feet long and trimmed to about four feet high. It gets fed if I remember to do it about once every three years.

I would guess that the answer is that it depends on how rapidly you want it to grow.
