I was reading this morning that apparently the rules for dogs travelling within Europe are more relaxed now (starting January 2012).

It is not necessary for the dog to have a blood test and the waiting time after the rabies treatment is 21 days...

    Does this sound any good?

The rabies vaccines are very effective and the 21 day wait is a balance between allowing time for the vaccine to 'take' and being unduly restrictive, according to Defra. Personally I think the risk of importing tick bourne disease is much greater than introducing rabies as the requirement for tick treatment is now gone.

Also, as far as I know, the requirements for tapeworm treatment are still under discussion. Echinococcus multilocularis has public health implications too.

I just heard about the new rules yesterday!
