I'm looking at internal door handles. Can you tell me what the difference is between an ordinary handle and a latch handle please? I've looked it up on the web but I'm none the wiser.

But both a lever type and a knob type are turned to operate the latch mechanism ?
The only ones I know for an internal door are, lever type on a backplate, lever on a rose ( round plate) and door knob with spring. Ensure you get the correct latch 64mm or 76mm.
Then you will have bathroom handles with a lock fitted or a separate lock.

Yes but you still physically have to push down a lever one and turn ( or twist) a knob.

Harrys post shows the latch mechanism.

The alternative is a roller catch like this that doesn't need a turning knob or handle

I think everyone has covered it.
The type of handle you need is dependent on the type of closing mechanism.
Beware of the round knob as opposed to the lever handle as in some cases it can mean you end up scraping your knuckles every time you open the door.

Just to be pedantic pushing down on the lever handle changes a downward force into a turning motion.
