Dove/pigeon

Are they doves or pigeons? Pigeon coloured dove shaped birds?
Anyway, another poor stray for the rescue centre today, poor birdie has no tail feathers and can't fly. He'd have been attacked by a dog (or the local charming kids) for sure if I hadn't found him in the park.
Who was it on here who does pigeon/bird rescue?

 

Is it a collared dove?

 

I thought he might be but I took him to the rescue who said he was a fledgling wood pigeon so I'll take their word for it! (That's why he'd got no tail..) I thought it was too late for fledglings now, but obviously not..
Anyway they said in about a fortnight he'd fledge and should be fine
