Apparently, the fire was reported from the local police station, which is right next door.

I saw an interview on local TV news tonight, in which a fire service spokesman said that the Downham Market crew didn't realise that it was their fire station ablaze until they reached the site, as the information from the initial callout didn't indicate the exact location of the building on fire, only the name of the road.

This would be the call from the police station next door then, would it?

Could only happen in Norfolk. :snork:

Its a new build station as well , so no excuses for not having the correct safety kit installed. Some very worried person/s will be compiling a list of excuses for a hot meeting soon !

I read somewhere yesterday that despite only being built in 2006, the building didn't have an alarm and wasn't sprinklered!
