Hello! Just thought I would share with you people on here that I passed my Driving Standards Agency Theory Test today! :) I got 48 out of 50 & you need to get 43 or above to pass! It was harder than any revision I had done as I really thought I had failed it once I completed the test but to my amazement I almost aced it!! Another 17 year old will soon be on the road ... (Yes I'm a safe driver :heehee: )

      Well Done!
There's no better freedom than a car - nor a bigger millstone for paying out.

Also consider the PassPlus or whatever it's called these days.

The best thing I ever did driving test/lesson-wise was when I passed my test, the next day I had a 2 hour motorway lesson. The best money I ever spent.

            Well done Kayleigh:dbgrtmb:

I know you haven't asked, but I'm going to offer my advice anyway:)

Try to get as many driving lessons in as possible while the weather is awful. When its dark and icy, that's ideal.

Sounds counter-intuitive, but believe me it makes a big difference. I learnt throughout one of our harshest winters in years, and in subsequent years, driving in horrible conditions to get to work sometimes, I remain grateful to my instructor for teaching me how to drive in a way such that I still have full control even on icy roads. Conversely, I know people who only ever took lessons in fair weather, and they are the ones that really struggle when the weather turns a bit bad.

I also second what FB said about Pass Plus. When I did it, you did 2 hours on a motorway, 2 hours on country lanes, and 2 hours in some other circumstance (can't remember). Basically its situations that are usually not covered in your normal lessons (and certainly you wont go on the motorway before you pass). It really helps your confidence. I remember when I did it, the first time I overtook a massive lorry in a small car on the motorway, and the turbulence as I passed nearly made me need fresh undies. Instructor just calmly explained that its normal and you get used to it, and I did very quickly, but had I not had the instructor there to guide and reassure me, I'd have probably ended up a nervous driver. As an added bonus, I don't know about now, but when I did it most insurers counted it as one year's NCD, which puts a massive dent in a new driver's insurance premium. I paid £99 for Pass Plus, and saved £110 on my first insurance policy. It didn't end there, because a year later, instead of having one year's NCD, I had 2, and so on.

Lady Penelope didn't drive as I recall. Didn't she have a chauffeur?

Yea it makes sense to drive in the bad weather on lessons but I've had 2 lessons cancelled because of the bad ice/snowy weather!! It's mad really! PPS is sound really interesting especially the motorways as we are not allowed on them which is stupid really. I'm deffo going to look into it seriously ... Thanks for the heads up!

Think of the lorry driver when it's very wind, pulling the highest trailor aloud (16 foot) and then see the wheels come off the ground, yes new undies, been there

I think it should be mandatory to take motorway lessons.
