We've had a lot (and i mean, a LOT) of rain fall over the past couple of weeks and since all of this rain, my Hydrangea seems to have drooped considerably. During this rain however, it has started to flower and the heads have got quite a lot heavier so i was thinking that this issue could be down to the sheer weight on those little stems?

Basically, is this drooping normal? Down to the weight of the heads? or is it down to the amount of rainfall that's drowning the plant?

The last thing i want now that i've nearly planted up my garden for the year, is things to start dying or getting ill due to bad drainage/too much rain?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Looks like only the flower heads drooping, plenty of upright flowerless stems, looks okay to me.

Thank you @pamsdish, It looks nice and healthy and like i said, it's only started drooping since the rainfall. When it was sunny/dry it was standing up proud as you like. I'll have to keep my fingers crossed for better weather and see if it perks up again :)

      Thanks again!

Might be worth just giving them a gentle shake to get rid of excess water. Otherwise it looks like a variety that needs some support. They are nice sized blooms :dbgrtmb:

Nice healthy specimen - as others have said, it's purely down to the weight of the blooms. I've shoved a few stakes in mine and tied them in.

thanks @merleworld, i'll get on this tonight... i was hoping it was a weight issue and not something that i'd done wrong!
