Well now I have you attention - the leaves on my melon plants have got soft, wilt like, droopy.

What have I done or not done? See pics. Shame - I was dead proud I was growing melons in the north east of England. My nieces were really impressed too.

    Help.

:lunapic 130165696578242 5:.....Sorry but the title did get my attention...

Have you recently transplanted them? not grown Melons myself but I'm assuming they're a bit like cucumbers and throw a hissy fit when unsettled:dunno:...

All I can suggest is to maybe keep them warm and suck it and see:blue thumb:

they have been kept too hot and too much bright sun they are still only babies , they should pick up , try any ventilate more during the day and use a bit of fleece to keep the bright sun off them it will also keep them snug over night.

Also use a soft string to tie them up , not the ones you are using you will damage the stem , as no give in them .

They have gone from sitting in my dining, on the floor by the patio doors to the plastic grow home outside and then on Monday moved to a bigger plastic grow home. Ok - will go and retrieve my melons from the garden and bring them back in.

        Sensitive little buggers.

        Thanks.

They may have got too cold. What overnight temps are you getting in those polythene 'greenhouses'.

I usually tend to think if the likes of cues or melons go limp, but are well watered, its because they have got chilled.
Often, they dont make it back, if they do, it can be a struggle.

Don't say that. I have named them and everything. Lots of TLC m'thinks. Can I feed them anything to rev them back up. Tom food?

Heartbreaking to think I may lose them.

Lordy lordy. So much to know, understand and do. Love GYO, but it can be overwhelming. Going to post another thread with several questions I have. I will keep you posted on Mel and Neil's recovery.

Feeding would be the worst thing you could do.
The plants go limp because the roots have stopped working, that is why they dont respond to watering.
So, hold off on too much watering, if the compost is damp, and keep the plants light, (Not direct sun), and warm.

Thank you for the advice. Mel and Neil or both in the dining room on the table. Fingers crossed.

Afraid it's way too early for Melons to go outside in an unheated g.house - overnight temps will kill them off.

They are in and in the warmth of the dining room. Lets see how they look when I get home.

                        Thanks everyone.
