Here' another extract from an article in the Amateur Gardening Magazine about something we know already but just confirms it:

"Parts of Yorkshire are officially in drought, according to the Evironmental Agency. Areas from Sheffield in South Yorkshire to Scarborough in the East fall into the drought zone. which includes East Anglia and South East England.

Environment Agency Chiefs warned that Yorkshire's rivers Don, Rother, Derwent and Hull were "low or very low" for this time of year. But, unlike the South, Yorkshire Water reservoirs are 92 per cent full. The company uses ground water and rivers in addition to reservoirs and claims to have a "unique grid" to move water to where it's needed. A Yorkshire Water spokesman said "We are not planning to introduce any water restrictions at this time, but we are constantly monitoring the situation"

The Horticultural Trades Association has successfully campaigned for drip irrigation to be allowed during hosepipe ban, but warned the drought was getting serious. The HTA's Tim Briercliffe said "the drought is getting worse for some Water Companies as each week goes by. I would not be surprised to see some Water Companies moving to tougher control measures as the Summer progresses. If this happens then all outside water use will be stopped completely."

After that unhappy news I'm desperately looking for some Good News.

Sorry All, but it's wet Up North, with plenty of water stored in Keilder.
Down South, Hull and thereabouts, I do hear they are suffering a bit.
Apparently Yorkshire Water are considering using Tankers to ship our excess water down there. Happy to help:dbgrtmb:

According to my brother Trent Water are doing the same.

We've got plenty here but no chance of shipping that anywhere and I don't suppose there are any water butts being sold here either. :)

Well our hosepipe ban has done the trick down south, since it came in it has rained nearly every day.
