Whats the best way to get rid of Duckweek, I had a terrible problem with it last year.
I would prefer some natural way if possible but I'm ready to try anything.
I'm fed up with removing it by hand already.

Lyn,after brook water got into my ponds they were infested with the stuff!
At first I used a sieve to scoop it off every few days....but I managed to get rid completely by flooding the ponds and washing it away.

I'm at the sieve stage at the moment, how fast does this stuff grow even this early in the year.:(
I'll try the flooding , but I'm a bit worried about the tap water with my fish.

A net / scooping it out is not really a good idea because you only need to have one small leaf left on the net and it will grow back again.

Flooding or overfilling is the easiest and in my opinion the best, its even better if you have a raised pond. Don't point the hose down (too much) let the tap water gently fill and over flow the pool. if you can, making a run off point is very good. ( A point lower than the main pool so all the water can run out. It may for example be taking out a brick and lowering the liner, just while you rid the pool of duckweed.)

So it's more to skim the top off rarther than fill the pool.
I can do that , take a brick out.
I'll be on to that next week , weather permitting.
    Thank you

Yes, because the duckweed floats on the surface

I have skimmed most of the duckweed off with the hose and picked as much as possiple out with the net.
I have looked for a grass carp but no-one seems to have them, maybe a bit early, i'm keep trying.
