Dwarf hydrangeas

I've always been a fan of hydrangeas, good foliage, showy long lasting flowers and hardy. The only thing that's put me off them so far is they get quite big, too big for my proposed positioning.

So imagine my delight when I discovered they do dwarf varieties too, which are less than a metre height and spread. This size is ideal.

However, I plan on planting two underneath the front window but it's north facing. They will get hardly any, practically no full sun at all. Is this a problem? I believe they prefer dappled over full sun or no sun?

Will they still do well?

 

most hydrangeas If they receieve an adequate amount of morning sun they will flower better but, they also need to be protected from the searing afternoon heat. So Dappled shade or a north-facing position can provide a good site.
I made the mistake and put my dwarf potted hydrangea at the bottom of my garden it recieved sun all day it seemed it didnt like it there and sadly it died on me maybe next year i get another but this time i ll keep it in dappled shade

 

Well, that's the other thing too. With them being dwarfs I could put them in planters and move them about, although I do prefer to put them in the ground. Would you say I'm better leaving it until next spring now the growing season is coming to an end, or could I get them now?

 

Hi you can The best time to plant hydrangeas is in spring or autumn, when the soil is warm and moist. Look at this site it should help
