I have a problem with these plants. This year I'm growing them for the first time.
I sowed some myself and I also bought plug plants. Some are in a raised bed (compost, top soil, grit) and some are in a pot (compost which I think has some fertiliser in it and grit). They're growing VERY slowly.
Peas that I sowed myself were planted out in the middle of May with flowers already developed. The leaves got yellow, it all looked miserable. I think I added some seaweed once. Only just recently it started growing again.
Shop bought peas were planted still without flowers, some of them are in a bed some in a pot. They have some flowers now/pea pods growing, but the bottom leaves are quite yellow and they're just not growing other than that. Very very small! They all have around 6-7h of sun (when it decides to finally come out). Not sure what should I do to make them (and me) happier.

Our pea sowing has been terrible this year. Sown indoors early with very little germination. Sown in the polytunnel and out of 30 6 have germinated and like yours are yellowing like mad (probably too hot for them). Then sowed directly outside..NOTHING! So sorry can't make you happier.

Is it just me, but I've not grown peas for years.
I used to take out a trench about 2 ins deep and 4 ins wide and scatter the peas in the bottom, then cover.
I just get the impression people mess around too much with them, single sowing and planting out.
To me peas are something you need a lot of plants of to get a decent crop.

@On the Levels Sorry to hear that! Sometimes it's just nice to know that you're not the only one struggling.

@pete Yes, I agree, you need a lot of them. I chose them this year as apparently they supposed to be easy and my daughter loves them. Will see next year if I'll have the patience

@pete yes I agree. I used to be the one that just sowed one seed in the trench and moved on a bit before the next one but when I have sown in pots I usually do at least 5. Then in the ground I just thought what the heck and sowed so many in the trench so close together. Never done that before. Rain forecast so maybe they will wake up!
