After removing some soil to build a raised bed, the soil was placed in a large tub ready for replacement. I guess there were a fefw stray bulbs which have since grown.

Will they survive the winter and flower or would they be better planted out? I think they are daffs but not 100% sure

    Many thanks in advance...

I'm not sure but I think from the pics they are more like gladioli offsets that are starting to develop bigger corms. If so they may flower next year but it could be the following year. Daffs are only just starting to make shoot and will still be below ground level ready for early spring emergence. To help identification, daffs have a more or less round shoot and a classic pointed bulb shaped bulb whereas glads have flatened stems and a flattened ball shaped corm.

Either daffs or glads will be safe enough left where they are if sheltered from frost and for the small quantity involved I would just get another bag of compost for the beds. If you really need to lift them then daffs should be planted out and glads allowed to dry and ripen before lifting and storage in a cool dry place overwinter for plantng out next march/april.

You must have a very large and good quality monitor, Palustris - I can't see a thing!

Maybe my hands shook very slightly as I took the picture.... no hairs at all, all smooth as a baby's ...

Frogesque, the stems are definately rounded with the outer leaves being classic quarter moon shaped where they encircle the inner leaves.

I still get the feeling that they are early daffs and with the seasons seemingly changing, nothing would surprise me

They look a bit like daffs to me, but not big enough to flower. Looks like you've got them under cover which could explain them being a bit early.
